New Sister Cities: Uzhhorod signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Slovak City of Trebišov

On December 5, 2025, Uzhhorod Mayor Bohdan Andriiv and Marek Čižmár, the Mayor (Primator) of the Slovak city of Trebišov, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which will serve as the basis for a full partnership agreement between the two sister cities.
Both parties clearly defined their intentions regarding systematic exchange of experience in building effective local self-government and implementing joint community development projects.


The cooperation is expected to cover a wide range of areas:
- Culture and traditions – joint initiatives aimed at preserving regional heritage;
- Education and youth – partnerships between schools, development of educational programs and youth projects;
- Sports and leisure – tournaments, camps, and youth exchanges;
- Community life – support for the cooperation of civic organizations;
- Economic development – strengthening ties between local entrepreneurs;
- Sustainable development – exchange of experience in energy efficiency, environmental protection, and urban planning.
The Mayors’ Club is confident that the new partnership between Uzhhorod and Trebišov will become an example of effective intermunicipal cooperation and will open many new opportunities for the development of Ukrainian communities on their path toward successful economic recovery.
