He began his career in 1983 at Chervonozavodsk Secondary School #2. Lokhvytsia district, Poltava region, as a teacher of chemistry and labor training. In 1985, after serving in the Armed Forces, he moved to Myrhorod. He taught chemistry at secondary school No. 9. From 1990 to 2000 he was the deputy director of the same school. Since 2000, he worked in the Education Department of the Myrhorod City Council. In 2002, he was transferred from the position of Deputy Head of the Education Department of the City Council to the Myrhorod City Council and appointed Deputy Mayor of Myrhorod. From 2002 to 2004, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Myrhorod City Council of the 4th convocation, and from 2006 to 2010, he was a deputy of the Myrhorod City Council of the 5th convocation.
